We believe that Sixth Form should be the most interesting and academically demanding years of your school life and there is no better place to spend these years than within the motivated and supportive Winchester community.
Learning alongside like-minded individuals, you will enjoy inspirational teaching which goes well beyond the curriculum. Each year, pupils join us with the intellectual spark and curiosity to take advantage of everything Winchester has to offer, and leave with the drive and determination to give something back.
Going beyond the curriculum
Winchester provides an intellectually stimulating environment in which conversation and debate are encouraged, and individual scholarship is nurtured. Subject specialists will stretch you beyond A-Level providing the perfect preparation for university.
Through our unique programme of non-examined cultural studies, known as ‘Div’, you will explore themes unrestrained by any syllabus. Div is what isn’t taught elsewhere and isn’t tested in exams, preparing you to thrive in the modern world and contribute to a global society.
Your future
Our school was founded to provide an education for scholars who would go out into the world to serve society. Those principles have not changed. Our ‘futures’ programme will help you think about careers and university choices and our fortnightly expert panels will connect you to the network of former pupils all over the working world.
Our pupils go on to study at world-class institutions, including US and international universities, as well as the most competitive UK destinations, including Oxford, Cambridge and the Russell Group.
Making the Most of your time
Girls and boys can join the Sixth Form as day pupils. We look forward to welcoming girls as Sixth Form boarders in two new purpose-built boarding houses from September 2026.
Whether you are a day or boarding pupil, you will find a Winchester week is busy and stimulating.
Monday to Saturday, mornings are full of lessons, whilst afternoons are a mix of lessons and time spent amongst friends, or taking part in one of the many extra-curricular activities on offer.
Beyond the classroom
Winchester is home to exceptional talent and achievement across many activities, but it is also about trying new pursuits.
Sixth Form pupils lead the many clubs and societies on offer. These include a diverse mix driven by pupils' individual passions, such as charity fundraising, sustainable fashion, journalism, protecting the natural environment, coding, entrepreneurship, debating, and design technology.
There is time set aside every afternoon for you to pursue your interests and all pupils take part in either community service or the Combined Cadet Force. Contributing to wider society will be central to your experience at Winchester.

A Supportive Environment
At the heart of our pastoral provision lies a commitment to ensuring that each pupil is happy and flourishes.
Much of your life will centre on your House, where your friends, Housemaster or Housemistress, and Matron form your extended family. They will offer you support, help you get used to life at a new school and be sources of advice when you need it.
Calling all curious minds
We welcome bright, inquisitive pupils, irrespective of background. We have a substantial bursaries programme, which can cover 100% of school fees and additional costs for eligible pupils.
The Wykeham Award is a dedicated bursary available for those pupils who join us in the Sixth Form and are currently studying at a UK state secondary school.
There are also a number of Sixth Form scholarships available, supporting excellence in Modern Languages, Classics, and Entrepreneurship.
Sixth Form is the time to look ahead, be confident in who you are, discover what you enjoy, and who you want to become. We are here to support you in uncovering and exploring those passions, whatever they may be.
